Following each biennial meeting of the International Society for Theoretical Psychology,a peer-reviewed edited volume of proceedings is produced. Dialogue and Debate in the Making of Theoretical Psychology emerged from the 2013 meeting in Santiago,Chile. This book illustrates the current dynamics and tensions animating theoretical work in Psychology. The collection of papers addresses a variety of topics relevant to contemporary research, spanning from forefront conceptualizations of subjectivity, culture and affection,to re-readings of classical psychological theories. While a critical ethos that has always marked the field remains, there is a risk of failing to critically evaluate this growing body of literature. As a whole, the book illustrates how efficacious dialogue and debate can be shut down if attention is not paid to both internal and external dialogue and debate. It expresses, with international scope, current dialogues and debates in theoretical psychology, which makes it of interest to readers wanting a rich overview of the current state of the field.
